Yarn Nerds Yarn Shop will be a local yarn shop located in the city of Detroit, MI. The shop was inspired by Knitwear Designer Lisa and her daughters craft club. The club was named by her second daughter Anaiah and they met every Saturday to do a craft. These crafts included knitting, crocheting, sewing and embroidery. Lisa has decided to open up a shop and is in the process of taking classes to learn how to run a successful business.

“For the past 12 weeks I’ve been participating in TechTown Detroit’s Retail Boot Camp program to strengthen Yarn Nerds in preparation of opening a storefront in Detroit. On Thursday, Nov. 10, I’ll be pitching my business to a panel of judges during the RBC Showcase for the chance to win $5,000 to go towards my business dreams." - Lisa Borum
On Nov. 10, 2022, TechTown Detroit celebrated the hustle and hard work of 14 Retail Boot Camp (RBC) graduates during our 13th cohort showcase. The participating cohort members pitched their business vision and shared what they learned during the RBC program live at TechTown. Five standouts each won a $5,000 Kickstart Award, and one People’s Choice Award was chosen during the live broadcast to receive $1,000! All graduates will continue their journey after Retail Boot Camp with TechTown at their side.
